Congratulations to all Risk Racing Supported Athletes for your efforts in Round One of the MAXXIS, British Championships last weekend at Little Silver, in the South of England.
Cold as it was, the weather was kind and the spectacular hillside circuit provided some extremely close racing in both MX1 and MX2 classes.
Three different Moto winners in the MX1 class was testimony to just how competitive the racing is going to be throughout the forthcoming months – but when the last wheel stopped turning, it was the “Flying Scottsman” Shaun Simpson LS Honda who topped the podium despite not taking a Moto win throughout the day, Shaun was more than content posting a brace of three 2nd place finishes to earn his first overall podium result of 2011.
Fellow Risk Racing supported athletes Graham Irwin and Gordon Crockard put in a good days work with a 6th and 7th overall finish respectively.
In the MX2 class, defending champion Zach Osborne started the defence of his crown in commanding style winning the first two Motos convincingly; unfortunately his Cotsworth Dixon Yamaha succumbed to mechanical failure in the final race of the day posting Zach 4th in the points standing after the 1st round.
New signing Mel Pocock, gelled well with his new Relentless Suzuki by TAS the youngster made good use of his first race holeshot to finish a strong 6th place just behind the Grand Prix regulars, Jake Nichols and Mattis Karro. The enthusiastic Suzuki rider was happy enough posting 7th overall with this being his first competitive ride under the TAS awning.
